Abstract

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most frequent nosocomial infection occurred. According to the National nosocomial infection surveillance (NNIS), the number of cases of health about 35% of all infections. Proteus mirabilisis one of the most important causes of urinary tract infections. This P.mirabilis produce fimbriae and hemagglutinin, Proteus mirabilis fimbriae which includes (PMF). PMF role in the pathogenesis of UTI. PMF gene cluster, which is encoded by 5655 base pair(bp) estimated that there are five polypeptides pmfA, pmfC, pmfD, pmfE, and pmfF. But pmfA geneis a gene that encodes the major fimbria of the PMF.

The method use dis descriptive method. This study aims to detect the presence of P.mirabilis genes pmfA of the patient’s urine UTI in the treatment room Kemuning Hasan Sadikin Hospital. The sample used is urine taken from 5 patients UTI. First inspection conducted by DNA isolation, DNA amplification receipts then PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) and electrophoresis.

The results of the study on the detection of gene pmfA P.mirabilis UTI urine electrophoresis using PCR of 5 samples UTI visualization is not obtained from gene pmfA P.mirabilis tape so it can be concluded that based on the results of this study concluded that the PCR was not found of genes pmfA P.mirabilis from urine of UTI patients in Hasan Sadikin Hospital.
